Much of this seems to consist of people playing Baseball, and some people playing horse-shoe throwing. Nothing exciting or different, just normal people living their normal lives. Well, except for the "game" in the final few seconds. But then, even in 1949, one could not stop boys being boys. So, while many things have changed, this film could *almost* have been made last week. The colour is very nice looking and well-preserved. Now, if only they could produce updated versions of the cars in the background.

Pretty amusing record of the 'Carnegie Illionis Steel Corp Homestead Division Supervisors Picnic' which happened June 11, 1949!! These guys whoop it up, playing Baseball and horseshoes at the 'Lithuanian Country Club'. No women around what soever! They look to be having a grand time, in their rayon slacks... The cameraman looks to have a little fun too, claudestinely taping the men as they enter and exit the latrine! Oh BOYS! The film 'ends' but just keeps on going! Soon we're headed down to 'South Park' to have ourselves a time, we witness a baseball game, more horseshoes, and lots of men…

The Great War was over, we'd made the world safe for democracy, this was the heartland of America: Allegheny County, Illinois, to be exact, and it was time for all the supervisors of the steelmill to have an early summer picnic. The "Lithuanian Country Club" was chosen-- basically a verdant eden with a shack plopped into the middle of it, looking like a set from THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE. One by one, these codgers show up for this picnic, stogies in teeth, fedoras on head, and belts cinched above the navel.
