Synopsis
A rogue scientist near a small desert town arouses the suspicion of the town's doctor when his lab assistant is found dead from a case of acromegaly, which took only four days to develop. As the doctor investigates, aided by the scientist's new female assistant, they discover that something is devouring local cattle and humans in increasingly large quantities.

Another great classic film of the 50's. 1/3 of the 3 Giant Insect Trilogy along with 'Them' (1954) & 'The Deadly Mantis' (1957). Thank you again Mr. Fergus.

And there was also "The Beginning of the End" with Peter Graves battling giant grasshoppers/locusts in the streets of Chicago in 1957. Effects are not nearly as good as the other three movies and was richly deserving of the riffing it got on MST3K. My favorite by far is "Them" the first part of which, before they know what they're facing, scared me witless as a child.

John Agar as Dr. Matt Hastings Mara Corday as Stephanie 'Steve' Clayton Leo G. Carroll as Prof. Gerald Deemer Nestor Paiva as Sheriff Jack Andrews Yes. Okay. But can anybody name the one most infamous jet pilot (character actor) that kill the tarantula? No. I'm not gonna name him here. But! All will know the eyes behind the oxygen mask as he shoots up that giant spider. Your Welcome!
