The writer, Curt Siodmak was a Jewish emigre to the U.S. escaping from Germany when Hitler came to power. He said "The Wolfman" was about Nazi Germany. He also said it had the elements of a greek tragedy. He only got a couple thousand for it while the producer, director, and actors got big bucks. He didn't sound too bitter about it and had a great appreciation for America.
