Synopsis
When a group of astronomers calculate a star is on a course to slam into Earth, a few days before, it's accompanying planet will first pass close enough to the Earth to cause havoc on land and sea. They set about building a rocket so a few selected individuals can escape to the planet.

I knew that line from the last verse of Neal Young's song "After the Goldrush" always reminded me of something from a movie but I couldn't remember which one, until I watched this again. Voila! Is this where he got the idea? I've been singing this song for years and along with this "vision" I've always thought his second verse about "lying in a burnt out basement" reminded me of "War of the Worlds" and hiding from the Martians. In any case this is a good 50's sci-fi flick and probably the first to use the "runaway to another planet" plot line. The color photography also helps to make up for…

I enjoyed it. I like the cast..a standard and popular bunch..Barbara Rush, Derr, Hansen, etc., even Mr Drucker. It was predictable, but the acting was fine, the rocket BEAUTIFUL (I’m a sucker for a good rocket), especially the shots of the rocket against the “menace”. It built tension nicely..and how about those rockety deck chairs. The scene when they open the door and greet the “paint by numbers” view was a TRUE HOOT!
