The dates on this film indicate it's from July- Aug 1941, four months before the Pearl Harbor attack. It seems more like a reconnaissance film than a personal home movie. Maybe just coincidence but it's well known that the Japanese were scouting targets on the west coast during this time frame.

This was not bad, almost an introduction to Santa Monica, but then this film got personal by introducing specific people, and then I got all cofused about who this film was geared at. I guess relatives or friends who know the people in question but don't know the town. Thats a good assessment.
