Schilderachtig Oud Amsterdam (1920)

Synopsis

Documentary about public housing in Amsterdam. A socio-economic documentary about housing in Amsterdam. As a result of modern public housing, many older buildings have disappeared. There are shots of the area around the ramparts: the Oudezijds Achterburgwal, Zeedijk, Kattegat, and the Oude Zijds Kolk. The film shows both the harrowing nature of poverty as well as the beauty of decay.
