Billy the Kid in Santa Fe is a 1941 American Western film directed by Sam Newfield. This film is the sixth in the "Billy the Kid" film series, produced by PRC from 1940 to 1946, and the last to star Bob Steele. In the next film, Billy the Kid Wanted, Steele was replaced by Buster Crabbe.

This is an above average "B" western staring Bob Steele. The supporting cast is good, even Fuzzy St. John who, at times, can become irritating to me in other westerns as the comic sidekick. This movie has a good plot which progresses nicely to a good conclusion. It is well worth viewing for western fans who can appreciate the "B" westerns.

A better than usual - more complicated, shall we say, plot almost raises this above the usual - however, what the plot gives m twists and deep allegiances, it takes away by its acceptance of the "taking the law into your own hands" territory - a very shaky place to be - and the "eye for an eye" aspect is always suspect. Here, these situations are accepted, as long as everyone agrees justice has been done. The acting is good. Even Al "Fuzzy" St. John is not irritating, as here he is not really played for laughs. And, we have to do without an "eye candy" type woman for the good, tough as nails…
