Synopsis
Conroy, a playboy, is found shot to death in his penthouse. A ne'er-do-well named Ramon Delgado (Paul Marion) tells the Falcon, Michael Watling (John Calvert), that he committed the murder and asks the Falcon to keep a key for him until after he has been acquitted. He says he feels certain of an acquittal when the police learn that the motive for the killing was Conroy's attention to Delgado's wife, Margot (Rochelle Hudson). Well written plot. The acting is par for a B movie. Some twists and turns will keep the viewer guessing. It is always fund to watch Rosco Karns in his signature role of policeman. Other great films featuring theis wonderful character actor include His Girl Friday (as a newspaper reporter), Woman of the Year, and It Happened One Night.

An entertaining "Falcon" movie. It is unlike the movies with Tom Conway or George Sanders, however, it does hold my attention. It takes some focus or attention to follow the different plot lines in order to understand the ending.

This entry in the "Falcon" franchise has a well-plotted story line with some exciting twists. The lead actor isn't the greatest, but it's an interesting story, worth watching. I enjoyed seeing character actors Roscoe Karns (always fun) and Tom Kennedy, who I always think of as "Gahagan," Glenda Farrell's foil from the Torchy Blane movies. One reviewer mentioned the Studebaker seen in the movie. I also enjoyed seeing some of the architecture in old Hollywood. Can you remember when a bowling alley merited a palace-like structure like the one in the movie? All in all, an enjoyable flick.

One camera shot I liked particularly was when the Falcon and his pal leave the station: the camera stays on the desk sergeant, while at the same time you see the pair leaving by way of the big shadows of their hats. It's kind of interesting spacially. Happens at the 40 minute mark thereabouts. Couldn't help shake the feeling I was watching a magic show; in that, it felt as if, at times, probably because of the shortness of the scenes, actors were being called up from the audience to participate. Why the magic, well, the main actor was a magician, a famous one. Remarkably he died only a yr ago.
