★★★ · Dairy for teh win! · Mental Cleanser · 2008-03-03
Poor Bob. Seems the whole town has discussed his gradual slowing down; luckily, there are nutrition charts and butter to save the day! Sadly, the sponsor had decided that anyone in 1954 with a milk allergy was doomed to be "out of pep" and "fed up with life". If they kept drinking milk despite the allergy, I am not surprised. There are some skips in the picture and sound which may make the story difficult to follow, but this is helped by the fact that there really isn't a great story to begin with. The best parts are shoehorning dairy products into every area of the "right foods", and it's…
★★★ · Pep Pep More Pep--Tonight on '60 Minutes.' · Dodsworth the Cat · 2023-11-04
High school football player Bob Troy has no pep. Actually, he looks just fine, but we'll take narrator Mike Wallace's word for it. It's simple, we learn. His diet is bad. Want to do better than the "fine base of nutrients"? Simple again. Add about a half gallon of milk a day and smother stuff in butter and there you are! Add ice cream and cheese. It'll put you over the top of the nutrient chart. You can even get your girl-friend Alice back from Hap Andrews. By sheer coincidence, this is sponsored by National Dairy Council. I like the bowling scorecard at the end. Everyone has a name except…

Bob, teenaged (?) boy, slowly discovers he's lacking in pep and vigor while meanwhile skipping meals. His parents wonder what is wrong. A chance meeting between Bob's coach and his parents at the bowling lane (this was the 1950's, so stop laughing) makes Bob's Coach to have a little talk with him. His coach tells Bob that eating well and sleeping well all help contribute to his pep. He then asks Bob to contribute to a project another girl is doing on breaking down how differnt foods contribute to a well balanced diet. Once you see the chart, you'll be scratching your head on how they figured…
★★★ · Film is not smooth · ERD · 2006-07-14
Film starts off well then becomes dull with charts and a preachy narration. Dietary habits have changed since this film was made in 1954, and some health studies have shown that too much milk is not so good.
★★★ · I Know That Voice! · donwert · 2010-10-14
This film gives no credits, but I am sure that the narrator is Mike Wallace.
