Living Stereo (1958)

I think that this short film was tied-in with a record album I have is "Sounds In Space", a stereo demostration record where a narrator discussing how stereo works. The second half of this film on another section is called "A Revolutionary New Triumph in Tape". I've seen it many times. I love stereo sound.

...to finally understand how stereo records (used to) work. The film was shot in full color - this is what happens to Eastmancolor stock after a few years. Kodacolor, on the other hand, doesn't fade at all. Unfortunately, it was made for home use and was rarely used professionally.

Pretty entertaining introduction to "living stereo" which RCA Victor introduced in the early 1960's. I really did like the explanations done to explain how this newfangled technology was done. The narrator was very hep too, what with his mod suit and funky glasses. Pretty entertaining.

An RCA 45 rpm record has more personality than this narrator, who can do nothing more than repeat the same RCA adjectives over and over and over. Ed Sullivan is more lively. Mr. Marketer has a tough job. This film has to make RCA Living Stereo (is there a "dying stereo" too?) sound different and more appealing than Columbia stereo. The animation of Nipper at the end is as stiff as the narrator. Enough has been said about the worn print.
