This 1917 C.B. DeMille full length western produced in early 1917 was a major hit for him with Mary Pickford as the star. It took me three tries to actually get into the picture, but once I settled into it, the story got to be quite good in a strange sort of way. Don't rely much on historical values here, it's a movie first of all. Mary Pickford is not my cup of tea but I can see how her demur projected innocence and her sometimes wild histrionics and her ability to pull on the heart-strings worked for her.
