I saw this in 1948 when I was stationed with the 11th Airborne Division at Camp Crawford, Sapporo, Japan. The music in this movie reminded me of the days when people played things other than the guitar and dressed like civilized grown-ups. No silly names for their bands and no silly behavior on the stage. Just good music. Ah, well, those days are gone forever. But I can still be in reverie in my memories.

Enjoyable from start to finish. They're way before my time but after seeing this movie, I'm a fan of the Dorsey's. This movie is just a small part of their story. Great musicians all around. Janet Blair and Bill Lundigan were class acts in their own right. Best of all I think Vince from the Shamwow commercial is playing the banjo in Tommy's band. LOL!!! Check it out.

the brothers had two of the best bands during the period which has become called the big band era. i remember seeing this movie while i was stationed in korea in 1946-1948 and i enjoyed it because it brought great music sounds to me along with a lot of memories. the movie won't win any academy awards but the nostalgia it creates is great to those of us who recall a time of life when things were much simpler and it seems like a lot more fun.
