The Zero Hour (1939)

Poor Linda.. I hope I never have to face such hardships and even though I've had my share none ever hit it to such a level. Now I'm left pondering if Julian was the most generous or most selfish. That's left to the viewer to ponder alone, but this one does as karen says, rips your heart right out in the end. Te acting was a big uppercrustish hoity toity if that's a word, but it matched the script. Anywhere else the same acting style would seem phoney, but it works well here.

I didn't have much hope for this movie, but I was so wrong. IT IS A REALLY GOOD ONE!! The story took a bit to get going but it soon finds its' depth and the leading lady is just lovely and the rest of the characters are pretty good and the end just wrenched my heart out.

My tears can be jerked rather easily, but this one didn't really do it. It's a pretty good film, the situation is a no-win situation, so you know something had to give somewhere along the line. I can't give it five, but the acting was respectable, direction about average for the era, and it was worth spending an hour or so, if for no other reason than the plot, which was captivating.
