Synopsis
Shadows on the Stairs is a 1941 American mystery film directed by D. Ross Lederman and starring Frieda Inescort, Paul Cavanagh and Heather Angel. It is based on Frank Vosper's play Murder on the Second Floor. The British subsidiary of Warner Bros. Pictures had previously produced a film adaptation of the work in 1932.

While not an Academy Award nomination in any stretch, it was a decent flick with some interesting acti Ors. Least of which Turhan Bey, who oddly enough was often cast as an Arab, although in real life he was Jewish.

This was a pleasant mystery with the accent on the characters in the movie. The acting was good (although the landlady toward the second half of the movie overacted). The plot progressed in an orderly manner to a good conclusion. Heather Angel (of the Bulldog Drummond series) provided the female romantic lead. Turhan Bey did well in his first movie.
