The characters in this film had many counterparts in real life. Just read Errol Flynn,s stories of his roguish wanderings in similar locales before he went to hollywood or accounts by peoplewho knew him at that time and which seem more believable. However, for pleasnt viewing, I can imagine a bitter winter evening, some good friends, alcholic drinks and this film as a break from serious conversation.Or as a backdrop to a barbecue,t he beautiful scenery adding an exotic atmosphere, with guests from time to time venturing,sociably into the audio area to enquire of the story,s progress. Join us now as we join Captain Bill Calamity and his team of bellybuttonless stereotypes as they sail the high seas for gold! Actually, in this somewhat convuluted plot, Bill SAYS he has gold, when in fact he doesn't. Everyone is after him because they believe he DOES, got it? Rest assured that Bill, after a few fights, some bad singing, and some choice dialogue, wins in the end! GREAT color, I love the very very early color talkies, as they are totally saturated.

I can't actually say that this is a good film, but it's definitely interesting for folks who enjoy films with whacked-out color schemes and seemingly improvised plots. This was made on the lowest of budgets and shows every penny of it. I think it would be fun to watch whilst really high and with a group of friends.
