Synopsis
Dishonored Lady is a 1947 American film noir crime film directed by Robert Stevenson and starring Hedy Lamarr, Dennis O'Keefe and John Loder. It is based on the 1930 play Dishonored Lady by Edward Sheldon and Margaret Ayer Barnes. Lamarr and Loder were married when they made the film, but they divorced later in 1947.

Hedy Lamarr was a beautiful actress. Rightfully so, she is on several lists (top 50, top 100, top 101, etc.) of the most beautiful actresses of all time. She plays the lead character exquisitely - a troubled, complicated young woman, who's beauty only complicates her already varied life. She uses her beauty to control those around her. Women are envious of her, men are drawn to her. All the relationships in her life were based on the man's infatuation with her beauty. Could she really love, and be loved, by someone? Lamar was, obviously, a most beautiful woman. And from what I can find in research - during her life she kept a humble attitude toward that fact. She carried herself like a wall-flower in her personal life - only allowing the Silver Screen to exploit her beauty. If Hitchcock had made this movie - I believe nothing would have changed except the give-a-way at the beginning and it would have had a bit more "suspense" to the ultimate bad guy.

Spell binding to say the least! This is a fabulous film for all. One has to fall head over heels for the heroine and her doctor lover. Demon alcohol and her psycological state caused a pause that made me the viewer hold my breath! Alas good will out and the ending was more than satisfying to me the viewer. A great film none the less!
