Possibly less focussed than some of the other entries in the series, with a story that wanders about in the first act before getting back on track, but there is still plenty to recommend this film. Acrobatic ninja, gun-toting samurai, some Roadrunner-style violence and a climactic battle with an unusual twist to beat the odds. Daigoro becomes a proper sidekick in this film and is an essential part of several of the fight scenes. Classic Chambara with offbeat elements.
