Not only was this film highly entertaining and even ahead of its time but there are multiple implications for this story including anthropological & sociological and likely others I haven’t picked up on. Kneale had not only addressed the Premise that “Human Intelligence” is not human after all, but he has given biological & evolutionary rationale for ethnocentrism. The later of the two concepts is especially pertinent in light of our human history of genocide as well as the prevalence of hate crimes perpetrated for ethnicity & orientation. This is as pertinent now as it ever has been.

I've been searching for the original series for a long time. The first time I learned of its existence was in the pages of Starlog magazine as a kid. The article reviewed the movie Five Million Years to Earth, a long-time favorite of mine, watching it (frightened to death) under the bed covers on WPIX 11 NYC Thriller Theater. As Prof. Quartermass, Andrew Keir also stole the film for me, but having watched this series, I'm very impressed. The production values of Britsh SF TV in the late 1950s are excellent. I remember first watching this with my father on a 'Friday Night Frights' show when I was a kid, and I came back to this film regularly during my adolescence. I have been looking for this movie on a streaming platform for about two years, and finally found it here. It still held up. It is a fun story and has enjoyable characters. Recommend if you are a fan of mid-century Sci Fi.

What a tragedy they have the religion of "evolution" and their holy spirit is "time". It is a state sponsored religion in school that is passed off as "fact". Their spiritual songs are based to the tune of "millions and billions of years ago". All with no proof. Yes, they came from old swamp water that was struck by lightning and came alive. A major flow in the film is the Professor Quatermass is a rocket scientist. He knew about rockets and how they are engineered. Yet, the narrative was dominated by militarists whom politicians trusted more. Another major flaw was the apes' narrative was that they appeared 5,000,000 million years ago yet the earlist ape like hominids appeared 2,500,000 years ago. Its been proven that Mars is dead along time ago. Maybe billions of years ago. In the movie "Rocketship XM" was more right when one of the characters said "Rock and sand, sand and rock". Those rovers proved it.
