Yes, John Boles does his own singing. He was a classically trained opera star, spoke French fluently and was a spy in Bulgaria, Turkey and France during WWI. I love this movie, although at times the dialogue is corny. But no fault of the actors. Great when John makes the Whistler reference to Mona Barrie...Not a bad movie for John's comeback after taking some years off to do personal tours. It was actually billed as "John Boles' Comeback Film!"

I really enjoyed everything about this one. The story was great, the acting was great, it moved well, it was fun in places, it tugged at my heart-strings in others. It was entertaining and enjoyable and I give my highest recommendation to watch it.

This is a true "classic". A feel-good, movie if there ever was one. Father and son, struggling together to make a life for themselves. The acting is great and the story believable. You'll kick yourself if you don't watch this one. I give it...stars but, since there are only 5 stars available...!

That kid could flat act even though he was a bit sappy, but he was the good kind of sappy.. The kind of sappy any parent would be proud to call son.. My son wasn't quite as sappy, but I love him anyway. Now me on the other hand... I drip out of trees when they have holes in them. maybe that's why some people think I'm a drip. Anyway..great movie and I still wanted to go back in time, grab those clods at the party and strangle each and every one of them, mom included. What a bi...well..you know..

Perhaps "ROAD TO HAPPINESS" (1941) is overly sentimental when compared to the films of today, but I enjoyed the story and felt the performances of John Boles and Blly Lee really clicked.
