Synopsis
Saddle Mountain Roundup is a 1941 American Western film directed by S. Roy Luby. The film is the ninth in Monogram Pictures' "Range Busters" series, and it stars Ray "Crash" Corrigan as Crash, John "Dusty" King as Dusty and Max "Alibi" Terhune as Alibi, with Lita Conway, Jack Mulhall and Willie Fung.

Curious little mystery disguised as a western.. or maybe it's the other way around? Anyways, Crash Corrigan and crew need to find out why the paranoid codger who has stashed away a large amount of money has died and whodunit. Not a bad story, with a great mixture of western and mystery in this. Just about the worst racist Asian character though. But other than that, not bad.

The Range Busters go through the motions of the Guinn "Big Boy" Williams film "Big Boy Rides Again." made in 1935. Ray Corrigan as the main hero, adds little to the film. John King adds a few songs in a decent baritone voice. Ventriloquist Max Terhune, with his dummy Elmer, is the obligatory comic sidekick and also adds a little to the action. Willie Fung - although cast as a typical Chinese cook of that period - has the best role, followed by Jack Mulhall as a lawyer. Lita Conway looks pretty - that's all the script asks of her - in one of the few films she made. Definitely not a "must see"…
