Synopsis
Jack Early is a photographer who will stop at nothing to climb his way to the very top of the success ladder. On the strength of his sheer tenacity, he gets a job with a major newspaper, and it's not long before he's made a name for himself by charming a notorious crime boss, Nick Palmer, into allowing himself to be photographed. Palmer takes him under his wing, but Early decides to bite the hand that feeds him and sets Palmer and another crime boss, Colton, against one another.

I luv film noir. I like the formula - it's known - but not always predictable. Like this movie. A dark character - either creepy or self-serving - narcissistic - a bully - a cheat...or in this case - a combination of all. There's nothing I liked or appreciated about this protagonist. And perhaps that's enough to recommend the movie. A guy who wants a break - and will do anything to get it. Once he get's it - with the help of others (a nice lady and a fair boss) - he has no thanks and no loyalty to anyone. He wants, cheats to get, double crosses to keep and ditches everyone who has helped him…
