In a very concentrated and over-the-top manner, this film starts a discussion on the very real problem of office gossip. It ends with a discussion question: "How *can* you keep rumors from getting started?" I would be the first to respond: "Fire everyone in the room!" In fact, at my wife's employer, office gossip is grounds for termination. Everyone's cranky in this film. The boss always seems to be in a bad mood and the office staff stages a mutiny. But, in only 7 minutes, we can see the problems that can arise when changes aren't properly communicated to the staff and tongues start to wag…

Mr. Stone, head of the accounting department, is frustrated because the "girls" (they are always referred to that way) in his department are constantly flying off the handle in response to wild rumors heard on the office grapevine. He wonders why they don't just ask him about stories they've heard, but he is totally clueless to the fact that when they do ask him about anything, he bites their heads off. The women in this film all look like they belong in a Women's Prison Movie. The woman who plays "Sally" would make a great prison guard. These sereotypes in this film are staggering. The "girls" are shrill gossips and the manager (who of course in those days HAD to be male) is a hapless buffoon. This film is a hoot.

I was really getting into the film, but it kind of just ended without telling you how to combat office gossip.The ending was a graphic saying "How can you keep rumors from getting started?" and I was waiting on the answer. Oh well, it is a nice film I guess.
