Synopsis
A small southern town has just been rocked by a tragedy: a young white woman has been raped by a black man. When young black man Garth witnesses the Ku Klux Klan's violent retaliation against his innocent friend, Garth declares a one-man war on the Klan and hunts them down one-by-one.

I was spell bound for most of the film and being in color added to the overall impact of this dynamic rendition of Klan Evil in the south. Only problem I had was Burton mumbling his lines and for a Shakesperian actor that is a sin! It lent nothing to his character whatsoever. I also noticed in the reviews that racial hatred still bleeds through in the reviews. How unfortunate. OJ Simpson did an admiralble job and I heard every word he uttered. I also read the hate that still exists for him in the reviews. How unfortunate.

The only way this would be factual would be showing how the Democrat party formed then later protected it from criminal prosecution. Mississippi Burning all the real life characters had only voted Democrat and continued doing so.

A look at race relations in the deep South during the Civil Rights era. I am afraid this movie, based on the fictional novel by William Bradford Huie, isn't as fictional as one might like to think it is. This story, no doubt, has a basis in fact.

I suppose that this is about as close to the truth as one would have you believe;however true history,if there is such a thing tells me the stage was set very differently.Nevertheless,the main actors did a good job,with the exception of Linda Evans.

I am interested in using clips from The Klansman in a new documentary. There is much conflicting information about The Klansman being in the public domain. Can anyone confirm. Thanks. PS, I was an extra in the film -- a hippie protestor, appearing at minute 61. A most unfortunate cinematic endeavor, overall.

Burton nearly died in this film from the heavy alcohol he drank. Such a talented cast and production for what is basically exploitative trash.
