The Law Rides (1936)

"The Law Rides", good name, that's why i watched it. But then it turned out to be Bob Steele so of course it doesn't matter it's all that good of a movie or not. If you're a Steele fan ya gotta watch.

Pretty much what everyone else wrote, plus the story broke Suspension of Disbelief for me early on. Jack (Norman Neilsen) discovers gold, and rides home to share the good news with his family. Hank (Charles King), a claim jumper, follows and shoots Jack dead in his own home, right in front of his family. Bruce (Bob Steele) runs Hank down, and marches him off to the sheriff's office and jail. Some of "the boys" bust Hank out of jail for a lynching party. Bruce realizes that Hank is the only one left alive who knows where Jack's claim is, and arrives just in time to stop them from…

This is a slow but interesting Bob Steele western directed by his father, Robert N. Bradbury. It is a very good TV print and good sound. Bob Steele is the stalwart hero as always. Harley Wood couldn't act her way out of a paper bag, so she's barely believeable eye candy here. Charles King is the main villian and gets to show a little more range than usual. Watch him in his close-ups and Steele's. They play off each other quite well, including the fight scenes. The rest of the cast and crew, for the most part, are all pros who can turn out this kind of western with their collective eyes…

Some folks just don't know how to grade movies. This would be a low " B " at best. The script and plot was all over the board. The only thing good about it was the scenery. Kids about 10 or 11 might like it.
