I LOVED THIS FILM. I ACTUALLY WAS SPELLBOUND BY THIS FILM. I WAS RIVETED UNTIL THE END. THE ACTING WAS SUPERB. I WAS TOTALLY AMAZED AT THE ENDING - I DID NOT HAVE A CLUE. ANN TODD AND RAY MILLAND WERE WONDERFUL. I AM REALLY IMPRESSED BY LEWIS ALLEN - THE DIRECTOR. I JUST ADORE HIS OTHER FILM - THE UNINVITED. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY WE NEVER SEE THIS GEM ON TCM OR AMAZON PRIME.

Though somewhat long and drawn out, it is worth seeing the film to its conclusion. Noir visual elements are limited but the psychological of the characters is pure Noir. Milland is the quintessential “Homme Faatale”.

Ray Milland never seemed to recover from his “Lost Weekend.” Fitz was a bit lost in this outing as well. Still, the characters and their players pulled it off. I actually enjoyed the film. After all, movies are an escape from the everyday hum drum of this pulsating world in which we merely exist. It is the world beyond we need to be constantly aware of!
