Synopsis
When a mother dies of heart failure in a doctor's office, the physician--feeling somewhat guilty because he couldn't save her--takes an interest in the woman's young daughter, and makes her his ward, but his fiancé doesn't particularly like it. After he returns from a three-year engagement in Europe, the doctor discovers that his ward is now a beautiful, full-grown woman, and finds himself falling for her--even though she's engaged to his fiancé's brother.

As long as you're a fan of old movies and know not to expect a masterpiece, you're in for a good time. Sure, the story was predictable and the characters were rather flat, as were most performances, but the overall atmosphere compensated for it. The low budget didn't allow the filmmakers to make the settings look artificial or glossy, which makes the film sort of a time capsule of the early thirties. The high point, however, was the performance of Lew Cody in the lead, who seemed very British for an American actor and died just a year after this movie. Overall, at just about an hour's length…

I found this average story line to be somewhat of a slow mover, and the acting/characters kind of mediocre, but it was still entertaining enough, and better than most things on TV today.

This was a good movie - kind of a variation on Daddy Long Legs with Mary Pickford. I agree that there had to be a little cut out about Dick's dirty dealings, but what really bothered me was that the dr and the girl both seemed ready to get married to each other and then all the sudden, she's getting married to Dick! I'm thinking a scene was cut out there too.
