Cheerios/V-8 (1960)

Somehow, the combination of Cheerios and V8, the two sponsors of this ad, sounds totally unappealing together. In this ad, two kids wander in with space helmets (apparently they just flew in for breakfast from the rocket that is shown at the beginning of the ad) and dive right in to their bowls of Cheerios and glasses of V8 (please, don't upchuck it on the table boys). There;s a prize too, a Space rocket thing, that looks to be two pieces, when the two separate, two spacemen fall out on a game pad. Looks crappy game to me, but, what the heck, those boys seem to like it. Funny stuff and highly recommended.

It looks as though there were a lot of kid's commercials promising that if you eat your cereal you can get to the moon, Mars, or school on time! Eat right and grow up to be an astronaut. When I was a young boy I dreamed of growing up to be a hedge-fund tycoon. Just give me a tall cold glass of dark winter ale for breakfast. That's the way to start your day.
