Synopsis
The Crime Smasher is a 1943 American crime comedy film directed by James Tinling and starring Edgar Kennedy, Richard Cromwell and Gale Storm. It is based on the Radio program Cosmo Jones featuring Frank Graham. The film's sets were designed by the art director Dave Milton. It is sometimes alternatively titled Cosmo Jones in the Crime Smasher.

This may be the only time audiences were able to see Frank Graham. He was well known on radio as an announcer, writer, and performer. Some sources suggest that Graham was one of the writers for this film which was based on a radio show in which he performed. Tragically, Graham died in 1950 at age 35 from apparent suicide. With the rise of more animations in the late 20th Century, he probably would have become familiar to modern audiences as a voice actor right into the 21st Century.
