This film is a must! The opening messages are exactly what the best research on classroom behaviour tells us: 1. The vast majority of behaviour problems in the classrom involve minor breaches of discipline. 2. These incidents originate in the classroom situation itself and are within the control of the teacher. 3. Disciplinary problems in the classroom are symptoms of underlying weaknesses in total learning situation. An oddball film about discipline, we are shown a Mr. Grimes who totally loses control of his math class. Frustrated by the low marks, he takes it out on the students (while holding a protractor, is that symbolic?) by essentially calling them morons. Of course, this only goads the students into picking on Grimes a bit more until he's passing out detentions left and right (with excessive finger wagging). Now, what is wrong here? The film says it's the teacher, you see by being calm with the students, why, the classroom will be calm with you? As Bill Cosby would say, "Riiiiight." If you have…

This was a very well made instructional movie for teachers. While there are new & different problems in the modern schools, the basic ideas of this film still holds.
