Another likeable old chestnut from the murder mystery glory days. Starting from scratch, there is a noted detective, a well-hated socialite and three murders within two minutes. The reasons for the pivotal murder - that of the socialite (Iris Adrian) - are well set up and it's possible to solve this who-done-it on your own with the clues at hand. (Though I didn't manage it.) There are no complaints about the large cast that features among others John Miljan, Betty Blythe and Irene Wear (Miss United States 1929). Short on atmospherics and nail-biting suspense, it isn't high drama. Nevertheless…

There are better murder mysteries here in IA but this is by far not the worst. The acting of the detective is slightly stiff, he seems to be too old for his love interest Irene Ware, but I like him. The rest of the cast is adequate too, but of course my personal favourite is this boxing cook/butler.
