Phantom Ranger (1938)

A typical western starring Tim McCoy and a nice turn by lovely Suzanne Karen. Karen/Kaaren made 44 appearances between 1933-84. The plot involved finding a government engraver who has been kidnapped and forced to engrave plates for counterfeit bills. Hard to believe but the engraver's daughter, Karen, goes west to find her father - well they had to get an attractive woman into the plot somehow - sigh! However, the action is continuous and McCoy is good and the film at just over 52 minutes is worth a view, particularly if you are a westerns fan.

In these old westerns the bad guys always seem to have a horse that looks more like a thorough breed race horse while the good guys always have what looks like a white show/plow horse and that white horse is ALWAYS the faster horse.. maybe it's that big fluffy anchor of a tail that speeds em up.. This guy's running around in hot desert air in all black, long sleeve clothing.. I've been in the desert quit a bit and I dunno about you, but long sleeve black clothing ain't exactly what you call the spring wardrobe desert collection for staying nice and cool.
