It does leave you hanging about the very characters you have been watching all through the movie. While it is very dated, this movie was probably very gritty and scary when it was shown back in the thirties. It does show how drug addiction robs people of their humanity. I am sure that there have been a lot of people who have done the things that the addicts in this movie did once they are hooked. This movie contains the best name for a dive joint EVER... This film was such a great example of early "After School Special". I can see it from both perspectives; 1.) 1930s concerned parent & 2.) Modern day, this is comedic film. If this were the 1930s & I were the divorcee parent of a little girl that I am now, I would be terrified. But at the same time I see it as I see "Reefer Madness", an absolutely hilarious & old propaganda film.
