Max and Arthur Alexander were in their mid-twenties when they started producing "B" movies. It didn't hurt that they were related to Carl Leammle, but with that foot in the door, they made some very good and well made "B"'s in the 1930's and 40's. This is one of the better of those. A solid crime drama starring Charles Starrett before he became a cowboy hero at Columbia. Starrett had a natural boyish charm that carried him through several pictures as the athletic college boy type or some such in the 30's. He's quite good here.
