Synopsis
Renfrew of the Royal Mounted is a 1937 American film produced and directed by Albert Herman and starring James Newill, Carol Hughes, and William Royle. Released by Grand National Pictures, it is the first of eight films based on Renfrew of the Royal Mounted, a popular series of boy's adventure books written by Laurie York Erskine. The film was shot on location at Big Bear Lake, California.

This is a really fun film with the lead actor being the best baritone in all of the movies I've watched so far. His rendition of "Barbecue Bill" is really great, and worth watching the movie just to hear him sing it! The rest of the movie is good as well, especially the Italian chef who is Renfrew's rival. I highly recommend this film. You gonna love it!

HEHEH this was great fun. I had never actually seen one of these Mountie movies just heard about them. Hey, was that a bit of bribery accepted by the border guard at the beginning of the movie? That frozen trout for clearance across the border?? This movie is not a heavy or dramatic kind just some fun and great singing. Well worth the time spent. By the way, the as any Canadian will tell you, the Mounties don't always get their man or sing as well!!hehehe But they try and they do a great musical ride! That too is worth a watch.

Renfrew Of The Royal Mounted sure is a curious movie. I mean Im not too sure who greenlighted the adventures of a singing Mountie, but here it is, and while its entertaining, it sure makes some highly amusing factual errors. James Newill stars as Renfrew, the dashing figure in red, while not singing songs about Barbecue sauce (!!) he helps out a woman who gets inadvertently caught as bait while going to see her father, who unbeknownst to her, is being forced to work as a counterfeiter for them bad Amerikans.
