From the cadence of the dialogue and the way the story plays out, this had to have been written for George O'Brien in pre-production, who by the time it got around to going before the cameras was no longer under contract to 20th Century-Fox and Sol Lessor Productions, having signed in mid-1936 with George Hirliman. This would have been a good vehicle in O'Brien's hands, but......this picture is a mess on all counts. Ralph Bellamy replaces O'Brien as the star but while he has many good qualities and was a great actor, time would prove, he was no George O'Brien. This is a typical modern day…
