Synopsis
Pete Marlan is a gambler with an unsavory past. Suspected of being an outlaw, Pete plays along with this misconception, the better to infiltrate a gang of smugglers. Along the way, he clears the name of the brother of Texas Ranger Mike Donovan, and helps patch up the romance between Donovan and heroine Bernice.

I f the story were not so convoluted and the film progression sometimes hard to follow, this would be an above average western. Harry Carey was a bit old to be a western hero, but carries it off by playing his age - especially in his love relation with Mae Busch. IMDb says Busch was a versatile actress between 1915-47 and appeared in 128 movies. In her early years she plaued leading lady to Erich von Stroheim, Lon Chaney, Charley Chase and Oliver Hardy amongst many others. The very pretty young lady Mary Jane Irving, is very good here. According to IMDb she started as a child in silent films…
