Synopsis
After eighteen years in prison, James Foster (Ralph Morgan) returns to Yellowstone National Park to retrieve stolen payroll and his daughter Ruth Foster (Judith Barrett), arrives to be with him. Also showing up at the lodge are gangsters Marty Ryan (Monroe Owsley) and "Dynamite" (Paul Fix ), detective Hardigan (Alan Hale) and a botanist, Franklin Ross (Rollo Loyd). Foster is murdered and the blame falls on Dick Sherwood (Henry Hunter), a young park ranger in love with Ruth.

This has always been one of my favorite B movies. It is an excellent example of an entertaining second feature that was paired with the more expensive A pictures in order to draw crowds to the matinees. B movies were a great training ground for new actors and an excellent opportunity to keep contract stars busy. This film is a neat little who-dun-it that has great comedy relief provided by Andy devine as well as excellent supporting actors Alan Hale (father of Alan Hale Jr who became TV's Skipper on Gilligan's Island) and Ralph Morgan (whose brother Frank was the wizard in Wizard of Oz). Well, the kids probably liked it but the acting was just terrible. With better casting and better directing it had possibilities.
