Synopsis
Delightfully Dangerous is a 1945 American musical comedy film directed by Arthur Lubin showcasing teenage singer Jane Powell—in her second film on loan out to United Artists from MGM—and orchestra leader Morton Gould. The working titles of this film were Cinderella Goes to War, Reaching for the Stars and High Among the Stars. It was Frank Tashlin's first writing credit on a live action feature film.

This is a very fine movie with wonderful singing from a very young Jane Powell. Janie plays a young girl 'Sherry' who believes her older sister 'Jo' is a Broadway star, when in reality Jo is a top burlesque performer by the name of 'Bubbles Barton' Eventually young Sherry finds out! The singing by Jane Powell in this movie is breathtaking with fantastic power and range. The movie has great charm and the acting from Jane Powell is superb. At one point Jane Powell sings while walking a tightrope and at another she serenades a group of marines while pretending to be much older than her fifteen…

Thoroughly enjoyable movie The acting is great and so are the musical numbers. To me, the lady who played Josephine kind of looks like one of the judges on American Idol (Kara) a little (in some scenes). Sherry's friend was too funny when she started eating chocolate right after her workout. I don't quite get why they titled the movie 'Delightfully Dangerous', but I really liked this one.

Expensively produced with some well thought out musical numbers. Hard to imagine how this was financed but I guess back then it was probably somebody's tax write-off. Constance Moore was incredibly beautiful. I don't know if it's the black and white photography or if star selection was based more on looks back then but many of the minor actors from this period seem much better looking than today's stars.

Okay, you know the story; her sister says she's a big broadway star. She's a stripper. Little sister goes to NYC and sets things unbelievalby straight, impossibly straight, with sugar and a cherry on top. Oh brother. Makes me sick.
