Synopsis

During the gold rush days a wagon train is attacked by a gang of renegades. John Knox is killed and one of his young sons, Asa Knox, is kidnapped by the renegade leader. The other son, Clint, and his mother Martha escape and reach St. Joseph, Missouri. Clint grows up and becomes a crack rider for the Pony Express. The kidnapped brother, now known as Ace Carter, has been raised by the outlaws with a contempt for the law. He is an unsuccessful rival of Clint's for the Pony Express job, which…

Maybe you just have to like Hoot Gibson to like this movie. It's corny, unbelievalbe, and not too energetic. But it is Hoot Gibson and that's all anyone needs, providing you are a Hoot fan. Which I am. So, lousy acting, choppy editing, bad writing, and all, it's a great movie.

Not terrible, not especially good - stiff acting by Gibson takes a lot of wind out of its sails. The oft used plot has brothers separated as children - one gets stolen and raised by outlaws, the other grows up decent, nurtured by mother love. Rex Lease is okay as the in-your-face bad guy who suddenly rides into town the same day as usually bad, here good guy Earl Dwire announces the formation of the Pony Express. Gibson and Lease meet and butt heads - sparks, but no flames. Then Dwire hires Gibson as a rider for a dangerous stretch of territory and rejects Lease, who goes away disgruntled…
