David Goodis was a writer of noir whose novels have been receiving increased attention. The Library of America has published a volume of Goodis' novels which includes his 1948 work "Nightfall". I have become an admirer of Goodis and of the many novels based upon his work. The 1956 film version of "NIghtfall" was directed by Jacquest Tourneur who is better known as the director of the classic noir "Out of the Past". I will always love him because of The Parent Trap, as well as Maureen O’Hara. I cannot remember life before seeing the original, probably watched it at least a few dozen times as a kid. It very unsung classic imo. It is a tragedy that he took his own life and at 70 years…truly goes to show you that you never what’s going on with someone and you never know when reaching out that hand of kindness to anyone, a stranger or a friend, will make all the difference in the world. Be kind to each other everyone, at worst at least you’ll feel better and best, you helped someone see the light of life…
