Synopsis
Gang leader Trigger Mallory is about to be released from prison. When Bill Carson notices the resemblance, he gets the Warden to hold Mallory and he assumes his identity. He fools both the gang and Trigger's girlfriend Jessie as he sets them up to be captured. But Trigger escapes from prison and returns to expose the hoax and Bill is made a prisoner.

I recently re-watched this film and the original review of this film is way off-base. This picture has Tim McCoy playing a G-Man undercover and an escaped convict who is his exact double. The plot has several twists you won't see coming and all the action you would expect from a McCoy western film. Yes, the musical number and a few other things are lame to be perfectly frank, but McCoy (in a dual role), Joan Barclay, Ted Adams, and side-kick Benny Corbett are in top form. Very watchable. One of McCoy's best!

I'll go with the first reviewer - another Tim McCoy film in which he pretends to be someone else - in this case a look-alike outlaw. McCoy is good as both men and Joan Barclay shows a little fire as the bad guy's girlfriend. Beyond that, all the other actors are adequate in their parts. However, the plot is a thin, worn-out version of many of McCoy's and other western stars' films. This one has the usual and obligatory fighting and shooting. McCoy proves what a good guy he is at the end - that may be the best thing about the film. Nothing you haven't seen before.

Lightning Bill Carson oater. Same plot, different script, government agent "Lightning Bill" impersonates a look-alike bandit. Remember? It's in this collection somewhere. The real outlaw shows up. Well-laid trap, blah blah blah.
