Originally called New Frontier the film was re-titled Frontier Horizon to avoid confusion with a 1935 John Wayne/ Republic release called The New Frontier. Frontier Horizon is the 8th of a series of The Mesquiteers releases by Republic starring Wayne, Ray Corrigan and Raymond Hatton. It is not so much a western as a drama with a western theme: eminent domain is being used to damn off a valley and the town therein to make a reservoir to provide water for a larger city.
