Synopsis
In this western, the Three Mesquiteers must find a killer and his band after they murder an official from the State Agricultural Service who had come to investigate an outbreak of hoof and mouth disease. The killer is fearful that the official would quarantine his entire herd. Unfortunately for the foolish rancher, if the herd is not isolated, all of his cows and those of his neighbors will die anyway. The heroes are assisted by Buck the clever Great Dane.

Production on Trigger Trio started out just as another B western to meet Republic's schedule. However, a quick change of cast members was needed when Bob Livingston suffered a head injury while swimming at a lake near location. Ralph Byrd was chosen as Stony Brooke's cousin. Byrd had already proved himself as a popular hero, thrilling youngsters in cliffhanger endings as Dick Tracy. It was the first time a new cast member was added to the 3-M series, but certainly not the last. From 1936-43, various Western veterans (Tom Tyler, Bob Steele, Raymond Hatton, Duncan Renaldo) and a few newcomers…

Good Three Mesquiteers outing, even without the usual gun play and fights. Instead, a movie with a more modern plot base - stopping the spread of hoof and mouth disease by an unscrupulous rancher. I have to commend the particularly good photography by Ernest Miller and eding by Tony Martinelli. Here the Mesquiteers are played by Ray Corrigan, ventriloquist Max Terhune, who gives us a few animal impersonations and newcomer Ralph Byrd, as Corrigan's somewhat hotheaded younger brother.
