I didn't find it as bad as the other reviewer. However, the movie wasted a lot of time - 20 or more minutes - setting up the main plot, by displaying Houston's/Hickok's heroism in the Civil War and giving some unnecessary background on the friendships of Houston/Hickok, Al St. John (Whiney Roberts), snug in his "Fuzzy" persona and nice guy Dave O'Brien (Steve Norris) who wants to be a big cattle rancher. It even manages to throw in O'Brien's beautiful sister Beth Marion (Mary Ann Norris) and O'Brien's future partner Alden Chase (Mort Bennett). After this we get a mystery set out west - who's…

The very successful serial starring "Wild Bill" Elliott "The Great Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok" for Columbia was released on June 30, 1938 and hard on the heels of that came this little western released on September 16, 1938 "Wild Bill Hickok...Frontier Scout" from Maurice Conn and others and distributed by Grand National Pictures, which was already circling the drain.
