Flight to Nowhere (1946)

A melange of secret agents, tricksters, assassins, phoney countesses, plus plane sabotage and a killer horse, blend to provide suspense, action and a riveting plot. Perhaps a bit repetitive as one character gets konked on the head twice, and another takes plunges in the pool fully-clothed, but very entertaining and well worth watching.

A strange film about a map showing the location of a large uranium deposit off of the coast of Japan and the person who has the map and various people trying to buy or steal it. Unfortunately, we never learn who the crooks work for, leaving us hanging a convoluted plot that is never fully explained. It plays out like a children's game decided by secret lots - you be bad guy #1, you be bad guy #2, you be the femme fatale, you be the guy who gets sucked into this mess, etc. - you're all traveling together and make it up as you go along, as each of you only knows what his or her part is.…

A fly-boy, a foreign femme fatale, a secret map and a knock on the head - a mystery adventure with all the elements of the period. Quite likely reconstituted from multi-part movie serial, as evidenced by the director, the no-name cast, the canned background music, and the choppy editing. Great shots of the Southern California desert, and delightful pre-bullet bra fashions, itÃÂs a brief taste of a simpler time when an airplane and a spy could keep ÃÂem coming back to the movie house week after week. An OK movie overall At the beginning, I had a lot of high hopes for an exciting film, but after about 25 min. or so I grew rather tedious. I've never seen these actors before; they all did an OK job. There are some mildly funny parts though, and the last 10 minutes was almost exciting. Not a must-see but a pretty fun film

It's a Ford movie with a Chevrolet budget, but that's the fun of B movies. The leading man, Alan Curtis, is great eye candy, though. The scenario is a bit incredible in spots. And I love the outfits the women wore in 40's flicks! Highly recommended for B movie lovers.

Flight To Nowhere is a bit of a glorious mess actually. Full of unexplained character motivations, devices, script holes and what have you, but it remains weirdly watchable, because all of these things are coming you all at once. Don't ask me what the hell is going on, something about a pilot (who is apparently some sort of g-man) trying to retrieve a stolen map of Uranium deposits.
