Synopsis
Henry Sharon is about to be ruined financially by rival stable owner Lew Ralston when he gets an idea to fake his own death. His prize horse Certified Check is bequeathed to niece Martha, a young woman Ralston had hoped to marry.

This film was released the first week of January 1939 through Grand National Pictures, which promptly folded after two more releases, leaving this film in limbo until TV came along. Make no mistake about it, this is as a pleasing little picture as you could expect. Under director Charles Lamont, the entire cast from the leads, Gordon Jones, Marsha Hunt, C. Henry Gordon, Harry Davenport and George E. Stone through the bit players, noteably Dorthy Fay, Earle Hodgins, and Lee Phelps among them are uniformly excellent. Enjoyable enough movie about horse racing. A codger has dreams of his horses winning every single horse race there is, while a yes, mustachioed evil guy doesn't want that to happen (though his reasoning is somewhat fuzzy). Has a bit of an awkward plot device in the middle that totally seems implausible, but ah well, it's just an hour, what's it going to do to you.
