Ted Wells actually had some leading roles in westerns for Universal in the 1920s. Some were great in the silents,but when the talkies came in, it proved that these actors cold not deliver their lines convincingly enough in a western. Bob Custer being another example. Some of these actors were actually given "western'' names to attract more people to the theatre. I believe an actor by the name of Raymond Glenn was given the name "Bob Custer" for his western films. An actor by the name of Boris Bullock was given the name of "William Barrymore". And I believe Jack Kesterson was "Art Mix". Anyway…

Surely the life story of the producer and writer of this film deserves hollywood film biography..It is totally unique. In a career from 1922 to 1936, Ronald J Horner made 36 very low budget western westerns, many of which he wrote.But it iss how that is fascinating. He was born with NO LEGS and in adult life , invented a wn electric car which enabled to get around. How this cowboy got a job in movies I will never know... the man who plays the Phantom Cowboy is SO bad, that you will NOT believe your ears whe he delivers his dialog. OH MY GOOSNESS! He IS bad.

Without doubt one of the worst westerns ever made. Even the usually reliable George Chesebro managed to give a lousy performance as a sleazy drunkard of a villain. The plot makes no sense, jump cuts destroy all continuity, actors who can't act and non-existent or horribly misguided direction put this film at the bottom of the scale. Doris Brook, says IMDb made 7 films between 1934-35 - that was enough. Jimmy Aubrey gives a horribly misguided over-the-top performance as Wells sidekick Ptomaine Pete - and his performance could make you ill. it gets one star for curiosity value.

Rather confusing tale about a cowboy and his double (who at first uses a cape to pull of robberies!) and how they get together with a brother and sister team to foil the bad guys in this town. The sister becomes a penny dancer, and his brother becomes sort of a shady character. I am not really 100% sure of what the heck happens, because this was all out confusing for some odd reason. Needless to say, they clean up the town of course for the required happy ending, which is all that matters Although this was one of the most confusing movies Ive seen in a long while, the acting here is pretty…
