Synopsis
Scanlon is pulling off a land swindle by selling lots in a ghost town claiming the power company is bringing in a line. As a bonus he throws in shares in a worthless gold mine. Gene is on to Scanlon and tries to get him to buy back the deeds by salting the mine with gold. But when a new vein is really discovered Gene has to stop the sales but is trapped in the mine by Scanlon's men.

The previous view says it all very succinctly - lots of music, some comedy and a bit of western action woven in. Autry sings 6 or 7 songs, Smiley Burnette and Sally Payne sing and provide silly humor, and Polly Jenkins and Her Playboys do a couple of numbers - lots of music. The story involves a land swindle that through unexpected twists, turns out to be a bonanza. Carol Hughes is Autry's adorable love interest, while Burnette winds up with Payne. The film is chock full of good western supporting actors playing bad guys Howard Chase and Albert Terry, both swindlers and good guys Earl Dwire…

Typical Gene Autry vehicle: lots of singin', a little shootin', some ridin', some fightin' and a thin plot. Smiley Burnett does his "frog" voice, and there are some purty little dogies. Cut out the singing and cut the 53 minutes to 40 or so. Gene still outsmarts the bad guys. Interesting pictures of Boulder Dam (now Hoover Dam) during early testing.
